Duanquan is a traditional Chinese martial art from Hebei Province characterized by short, explosive power and close-range combat techniques. Unlike the extended, flowing movements of Changquan (Long Fist), Duanquan emphasizes compact, rapid-fire strikes, low stances, and quick footwork. Practitioners develop extraordinary explosive power through specialized conditioning exercises. The art includes empty-hand forms as well as short weapon techniques like daggers and short staff.
